Shiv Sena was formally established on June 19, 1966 by visionary leadership of Balasaheb Thackeray. In 2022 dissatisfaction was bubbling in the hearts of Shiv Sainiks This dissatisfaction was finally broken by the then group leader of ShivSena in the Legislative Assembly

In June 2022, under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, as many as 50 MLAs staged an uprising. The uprising resulted in the formation of the ShivSena-BJP coalition government and the new government was sworn in on 30 June 2022 under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Balasaheb Thackeray

Bal Thackeray was a prominent Indian politician and the founder of the Shiv Sena, a right-wing regional political party based in Maharashtra. He was born on January 23, 1926, in Pune, Maharashtra, and passed away on November 17, 2012. Thackeray started his career as a cartoonist, working for the English-language newspaper The Free Press Journal. In 1960, he launched his own political cartoon weekly called Marmik, which focused on advocating for the rights of the Marathi-speaking people in Maharashtra.
In 1966, Thackeray founded Shiv Sena to protect the interests of the Marathi people and promote their socio-political agenda. The party initially focused on securing job opportunities for Maharashtrians in Mumbai, but it gradually expanded to advocate for Hindutva, a form of Hindu nationalism. Under Thackeray's leadership, Shiv Sena became a significant force in Maharashtra politics.
Thackeray's speeches were often controversial, marked by fiery rhetoric and criticism of migrants, particularly those from other Indian states. Despite the controversies, he maintained a significant following among his supporters, who saw him as a champion of Marathi identity and Hindu nationalism.
After his death, his son, Uddhav Thackeray, took over the leadership of Shiv Sena, and the party continued to play a prominent role in Maharashtra politics.
